First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.
Software Engineer
My interview was for a software engineer role. They asked about my software development experience and some API questions, it seemed like a pretty basic interview. I thought I was a good fit for the position, but they decided to refer me to another team for an interview for a support role, which I was not interested in.
- Tell me about your software development experience.
- Can you answer some API questions?
Registered Nurse Case Manager
The interview was informative and very helpful with a friendly panel. Even though I wasn't selected, I really appreciated how professional and open they were with information. I'll definitely apply again if a similar role opens up while I'm still looking.
- Can you share an instance where you dealt with a challenging client and describe your approach?
Automation Engineer Lead
It started with an internal HR recruiter call, then a hiring manager interview, then a panel interview with the hiring manager and two other leaders. I got an offer that was way too low for a team lead position, so I tried to negotiate. The recruiter said they couldn't negotiate because another candidate was lined up, but then they reposted the job on LinkedIn the next day.
- What are your career aspirations for the next 3-5 years?
Security Analyst
My interview experience was a bit unique. I applied for job A in mid-May 2023, but didn't hear back until the third week of July. I had three interviews for that role. The first involved three people, the second had four, and the third had one. During the second interview for job A, someone was also hiring for job B and thought I might be a good fit. At the end of the interviews for job A, they asked if I wanted to proceed with job A (since they liked me) or if I wanted to try for job B, as I might be equally or even better suited for it. I decided to interview for job B, which required reapplying and one additional round. While job A took months to conclude, the process for job B was much faster, about a week, because they wanted to quickly fill the position so I could formally apply, which I thought was great. The interviews themselves were straightforward, nothing unexpected. The first two interviews lasted an hour, and the final one was about 30 minutes. Everyone was very friendly and openly shared their experiences and perspectives on the company.
