Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.
Communications Specialist
First, there was a phone call where they explained the role and responsibilities and I could ask questions. Then, I had an in-person meeting with the manager of the division, followed by a meeting with the department heads, and then a panel interview with three members of the department. It was all very laid back and comfortable.
- Can you tell me about a recent ad campaign that caught your eye and explain your reasoning?
Marketing Communications Manager
This was the worst hiring process I've ever been through. I applied back in August, and they didn't even reach out until September to set up a phone interview. Then, three days before that October interview, they sent me a value profile to fill out. Right after the phone interview, I got a PI survey. In November, they called about next steps: another phone interview by the end of the month and a presentation in December. But the phone screen didn't happen until mid-December, and the presentation got pushed to January. In January, the presentation was delayed again until February. By March, both the presentation and the whole process were put on hold indefinitely. Then in May, I got an email saying the job was cancelled and would be reposted with new requirements. I reapplied since I met the new criteria easily. Six days later, I got an email saying I didn't qualify. I'm not upset about not getting the job, but I'm really frustrated with how poorly I was treated. It's a really bad look for the company.
- Can you talk about your experience in retail marketing?
Communications Specialist
It was a three-round interview process. First, there was a phone screening, and then two in-person interviews. The whole experience was positive, professional, and straightforward, though it did take a while to get the offer.
- Describe a situation where you encountered an obstacle and how you successfully navigated it.
