I had a long chat with the internal recruiter who reached out to me and it went really well. She said I sounded like a great fit and wanted to get me in front of the COO ASAP. The COO interview also went well, though I ended up doing most of the talking, asking a lot of detailed questions about the role's goals, which are undefined, and the autonomy involved. I discussed my relevant experiences on how I'd approach setting goals based on performance data, involving different teams, and cross-functional collaboration. The interview concluded positively and I was told the recruiter would be in touch. Two weeks passed, and the recruiter sent a brief email stating my experience wasn't the right match for their current needs. I was surprised and asked for more detailed feedback given the strong interview process up to that point, but received no response. This candidate treatment is unacceptable. When candidates invest significant time and effort, and are led to believe they are a good fit, only to be told they are not, they deserve to know why.

It was a 4 step interview process. First, an initial call with a recruiter which was basically a phone screen. Then, there was a take-home test assessment. After that, I met with the Direct Dept Manager. The next step was a panel interview with 3 other leaders in the company. They also checked my references. Finally, I had a phone call with the CEO. I really liked how Block took the time to make sure I was a good fit. Even though the interviews were spread out over a week or two, the process was smooth and I appreciated their efforts. Everyone was nice and knew their stuff and were passionate about their jobs. They were so welcoming it felt like talking to friends. I enjoyed the interview process, the hospitality, and how thorough they were.

The interview process was really smooth and quick, probably the fastest I've experienced. I went through 4 interviews in about 3 weeks. Setting up the meetings was a breeze because they use a calendar app that shows the interviewer's availability, so the meeting gets confirmed right away. After every interview, I heard back within a day about moving to the next stage. I especially liked the panel interview where I met three future colleagues. It felt more like a back-and-forth conversation, exchanging questions and info. They were curious about me, and I was curious about them and the company. I left feeling like I had a great chat with some talented people I'd be happy to work with.

Behavioral Technical Other

The HR team was really responsive at first, which was impressive. The interview process had a lot of rounds and included a take-home assignment that I actually enjoyed. I thought I was going to speak with the founder for the 4th round, but instead, I spoke with someone I'd already talked to. They offered me a freelance architect role without insurance or benefits, which wasn't the job I applied for. I asked for time to think about it, and they said I could take as long as I wanted on a Friday, but then on Monday, they rescinded the offer, saying there were misalignments. This whole experience felt like false advertising and a waste of time, with 4-5 Zoom calls leading to a bait-and-switch and the offer being pulled for reasons they could have caught early on. Given my experience, I'd be wary of their negative reviews.
