& Process

It was pretty simple, two parts. First, a quick call to see if we were a good fit and what the expectations were. Then, one on-site interview where we talked about my experience, how I fit the role, and what the next steps would be with the team.

So I got contacted for this job, right? They first wanted to do a phone interview, but then they switched it to a video call. During that chat, they asked me stuff about my past work, what I know technically, and if I get cyber security concepts. They really wanted to know about my network security, finding weaknesses, dealing with breaches, and stuff like that. After I got through that first part, they gave me a technical test. It had some hands-on tasks and questions about situations where I had to figure out cyber threats and security problems and how to react. They also checked if I knew programming, network stuff, encryption, and other related techy things.

I applied online and got contacted by the hiring manager in a day or two for a quick interview. After that, he said others would contact me for more interviews. I ended up meeting with the hiring manager again for a long time, their boss, the division head, and my potential subordinates, plus two senior managers who I wasn't sure why I met with. Everyone scheduled their own interview, and it seemed uncoordinated, leading to scheduling issues, delays, and confusion. Some interviewers were surprised I hadn't met others or asked about certain things already. The interviews totaled about 10 hours over 1.5 weeks, with 2-3 one-hour interviews some days, which often ran long. All interviewers used the same template focusing on behavioral questions, asking roughly the same 15 questions. The process was lengthy and repetitive, but I figured they were being thorough since I was qualified and wanted the whole team to be comfortable with a new hire. The interviewers were professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and candid.

I applied for a work from home position and the interview process was great. I was sent email instructions to complete some assessments and an initial interview via recording. Then I spoke with a recruiter about availability and wages and I was okay with the requirements. I then had to fill out another application on the company website, even though I initially filled out a completed application. I researched and diligently jotted down important information regarding the company. I spoke with a lady for my second interview which lasted for an hour, and she said I looked like a good fit for the position. I looked over interview tips and dressed accordingly. I was told I'd hear something back from their hr manager in 1-2 weeks. I received an email from a recruiter saying they found a better qualified candidate, even though they reposted the same job that week before they denied me employment. I have surpassed employment requirements with experience and a 4yr BS degree, only to have my time wasted, without a job. Upon checking their leadership board the diversity within this company is non-existent. Based out of PA the ratio for whites to other minorities are around 10,000,000 to 12,000. I feel like I was cheated out of a job.
