Writer
I got reached out to by a recruiter on LinkedIn, then had a quick chat. After that, I spoke with the direct manager on the phone who was super nice and really wanted to hear about my background. Then I was given a writing task to do over the weekend. They liked my work on the assignment, so they invited me to meet some of the team in person. I met with five different people for about 30 minutes each. Everyone was great and asked thoughtful questions. It made me really want to work there. The final step was a 30-minute casual meeting with the CMO, which was a good chance to talk more about the marketing team's future plans and how my role would contribute.

Software Engineer
I got contacted by a ZipWhip recruiter for a technical phone screen. The interviewer was kind of late, about 15 minutes. They started by talking about ZipWhip’s products and services. It was honestly the least enthusiastic description of a company I've ever heard. Maybe they were having an off day, but I feel like interviewers should sound excited about their company and the opportunity. The interviewer's attitude and tone already made me decide against working there. Anyway, I never heard back from anyone after the interview. That's just how they operate, I guess.
- Can you explain standard SQL concepts like joins and keys?
- What are some simple Spring Boot questions, for example, about the lifecycle of a bean?
Sales Development Representative
I found the job through an employee referral and spoke with HR the next day. We had a good chat about my background, my goals, and Zipwhip. After that, I didn't hear back for a few days, so I reached out to as many people as I could at the company to show my strong interest. I have all the experience they're looking for, but I still never heard back from anyone I contacted. It feels like they were hesitant to give a direct answer. I'm okay with rejection, but being ghosted is frustrating, especially for a role I was so excited about. Despite this, I'm still very eager to join the company. Has anyone else experienced this?
- Can you share an instance from your past roles where you utilized metrics?
Director, Learning and Development
The hiring process was really quick and went smoothly. Since I had some availability, the recruiters made sure to schedule my interviews all in one day. When I arrived, things were well-organized, the interview schedule made sense, and I felt well-supported the whole time. It was great getting to meet some of the C-suite and other executives. I was surprised they carved out time for me, and our discussions were very informative and flowed naturally.
- Can you share your background in creating onboarding and leadership development initiatives?
