Software Engineer
Applied online and my recruiter helped me set up a one-on-one technical interview. After passing that, I proceeded to an onsite interview that consisted of 4 rounds. Everyone I met was really friendly and the team was super helpful throughout the process. While it seemed like we were a good mutual fit, my technical skills didn't quite align with what they were looking for. I'd still suggest applying to companies like this because they are so friendly.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experiences?
- What are your technical experiences?
Senior Software Engineer
Had three sessions: first, a design session with four engineers, they asked a moderately difficult question with lots of open ends. Second, a personality session with two junior engineers. Third, a design discussion with two very senior engineers. Nothing too complex, it was just to verify what I implied I knew and that we'd get along. The interview seemed to go well and was indicated as such to my recruiter, but after a few weeks, the company stopped responding to email or phone. Yes, I was ghosted, turned out to be a waste of time.
- Can you design the security system for an elevator bank?
Software Engineer
I got contacted by a ZipWhip recruiter for a technical phone screen. The interviewer was kind of late, about 15 minutes. They started by talking about ZipWhip’s products and services. It was honestly the least enthusiastic description of a company I've ever heard. Maybe they were having an off day, but I feel like interviewers should sound excited about their company and the opportunity. The interviewer's attitude and tone already made me decide against working there. Anyway, I never heard back from anyone after the interview. That's just how they operate, I guess.
- Can you explain standard SQL concepts like joins and keys?
- What are some simple Spring Boot questions, for example, about the lifecycle of a bean?
