I was contacted by Zions Capital Markets for an interview for their Debt Capital Markets team. The process involved 5 rounds of interviews, with varying durations: 30 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 2.5 hours, and a final 30 minutes. The 2.5-hour interview was in-person and seemed like a superday, but I was informed of an additional 30-minute director interview afterward. This felt repetitive since I'd already met the whole team, and I suspected they were conducting interviews just for the sake of it. I had to arrange and pay for my own transportation, with the promise of reimbursement, which I still haven't received. Following all the interviews, I received an offer with a strict 48-hour deadline, which I managed to extend to 72 hours. Typically, offer deadlines are much longer, allowing for planning of start dates and accommodation. Due to the tight timeframe and reluctance to renegotiate if I accepted, the offer expired. I was not pleased with how this employer handled the interview process and communication.

Applied for a senior marketing tech role. Had a first chat with a recruiter who seemed into it. Said the team wanted to move fast and she'd set up a next call with the hiring manager. I followed up, but then nothing – no reply, no update. The job had just been posted, and they were saying they couldn't find good people. It's weird because they say they're a 'great place to work,' but then can't even communicate properly. Disappointing when they seem enthusiastic at first, especially a big company that talks about relationships.

So, first you meet the supervisor and the manager. They wanna check out your skills, your experience, and how you figure stuff out. Mostly they ask questions about behavior and situations, like how you deal with problems at work, working with others, and making choices. They might ask you to talk about stuff you've done before, how you handled fights, met deadlines, or dealt with things not going as planned. It's all about seeing if you can think critically, communicate well, and fit into the company vibe.

Technical Technical Technical

It was an average interview, with three rounds in total. There were two technical rounds and one HR round. The interviews covered questions on Datastage, DB, data warehousing, and Python. Most of the questions were easy. The common Datastage questions were: What is Datastage? Explain the DataStage parallel Extender or Enterprise Edition (EE)? What is a conductor node in DataStage? How do you run the DataStage job from the command line? What are the different options associated with the "dsjob" command? Can you explain the difference between sequential file, dataset and fileset.
