Summer Associate
So the application process was pretty annoying. First, you submit an application, then you have to do a test. After that, there's a recruiter call. Then an interview with an associate, which was super awkward. The interviewer didn't show his face on camera, didn't react to anything I said, and asked me over 30 questions. He didn't allow me to ask any questions and just ended the interview. I get that they might have already filled the position, but why not just cancel the interview instead of trying to haze me?
- Tell me about a job you really enjoyed.
Sales Associate
The interview process included three interviews, featuring a mock client call, and personality and critical thinking assessments. All interviews were virtual, with each session lasting a maximum of 30 minutes, though 15-minute sessions were preferred. The process was well-organized and professional. This law firm is growing rapidly and seems effective at implementing systems that help employees perform their jobs optimally by minimizing mundane tasks.
- Could you explain your motivation for seeking this particular job, and how you respond to constructive feedback?
- What do you consider to be your most significant strength, and what is an area where you could improve?
- Tell me about your greatest strength and your biggest weakness.
Attorney
I had a video interview with a recruiting attorney, then an interview with a senior attorney, and finally an in-person meeting with the two partners. It felt like they were asking the same questions at every stage, and it seemed like they weren't really talking to each other about the candidates. The partners interviews gave me a feeling that getting to partnership was basically impossible. They mentioned a 'partnership track,' but when I asked, it turned out only a couple of people who had been there for four or five years were on it. If a firm doesn't have a clear track, I'd be skeptical. I looked up pending cases in Texas and noticed the partners were usually the lead attorneys, which suggests you'd have to split your fees with them. The whole experience felt like smoke and mirrors, similar to another review I saw. They might try to impress you with a $250k salary after a year or two, but that's BigLaw money, and if it were that easy, everyone would be here. I've also noticed some attorney profiles are missing from their website, which is a red flag for turnover. And if they ignore your follow-up thank-you email, that's another thing to consider.
- Why do you want to work in personal injury law?
- Are you able to adapt to changes?
- Tell me about your interest in personal injury law.
Paralegal
The interview process was explained as having three rounds over Zoom because it's a remote position. The first interview was very brief, under ten minutes, and went well. They quickly set up the second interview with what I think was the talent acquisition manager, which lasted about thirty minutes. Unfortunately, I never heard back after that.
- What are your five-year career aspirations?
- Can you describe your proudest achievement?
- What is something you are afraid of?
