& Process

The interview process focused on core company values and sales ability, service bases questions, teamwork ability, and ability to work unsupervised. They asked many questions regarding background and skill level, both in sales and computer skill.

So I had this initial screening phone call with a recruiter. After that, she emailed me to fill out the application, which was weird since she reached out on LinkedIn first. I did it, and then she set up a virtual interview. Right before that, my roommate got COVID, so I had to get tested and find somewhere else to stay. I messaged the recruiter about rescheduling, but she ghosted me. I tried emailing her a few times and even messaged her on LinkedIn again, but she never responded. I felt like it was pretty rude to just ignore me, especially with the situation.

I talked to four pricing managers, the pricing director, and the VP of pricing. A couple of the PMs interviewed me, and some just started talking about the company like I was already hired. Those interviews were pretty standard. The Director asked some harder questions and made me do a self-assessment that we then talked about. He wants honesty about what you know and don't know, and he appreciates good questions. He mentioned he mostly lets the PMs decide, so impress them. The VP made me really nervous, like I was in a shark tank. He's sharp and will dig into your answers until he finds the truth, so definitely don't try to BS him. He sees your mistakes as reflecting badly on him, so you want to give him the impression you've got things handled so he can just ignore you. My only complaint is that I never heard back about the job. I reached out to the PMs after three weeks and they said I'd be notified. Three more weeks later, I contacted the PD and was told they went with someone else.

I came into this role via a contracting company. After they vetted me, I was then submitted to YRC. The interview process involved an initial phone call with the PMO manager. Following that, there was a single interview session that included back-to-back meetings with the two functional managers I would be working with, and their director, totaling three interviews in one sitting. The whole experience was quite reasonable, taking about 4 weeks from the first contact to my start date.
