I was first contacted for an interview, but it was done through a tablet with questions about technical problems, which seemed more for a technical support role than QA Analyst. I wasn't contacted after that, even though I followed up a lot. I eventually gave up hoping for the position. Three months later, I was invited for an in-person interview at their location, where I met with three Department Managers. They asked me about software I've used for debugging code, specifically mentioning FireBug from Mozilla. Despite my programming and technical background, I wasn't offered the job. They took three months to reject me. I was willing to take a fast-food job because I needed to support my family, which I mentioned briefly. I was really unhappy with their lack of professionalism and how they didn't seem to care about that at all.

I went through a staffing company first, they told me about the job and set up the interview. They asked me stuff about dealing with tough customers, and some basic tech questions like what's an IP address, how to map a network drive, how many MB in a GB, and the difference between an app, process, and service. Also asked about my weaknesses/strengths and handling stress. It went good, and they called me a few hours later with the job offer. After I accepted, they did a background check, which meant I had to dig up info on all the places I lived and worked for the last 5 years.

After I applied online, I got an email a few days later saying I "got the interview." The interview was digital, done through HireVue. I had three business days to do it. I used my laptop with a webcam, but you could also use a mobile device with a front-facing camera. I found a quiet spot at home without distractions in the background and set up some lights to make sure my face showed up well on camera. There were practice questions to check my camera and mic and to get used to the format. These practice questions weren't saved and weren't similar to the actual interview questions. The interview started with essay questions where I wrote my responses. Then, there were video-recorded questions. I had 33 seconds to read and think about each question before recording, but could start sooner. I had up to 5 minutes to respond, but could stop recording earlier. I think there were 13 questions in total.

So, first thing they did was sit me down at an Apple laptop and gave me 30 minutes to do this writing test where I had to proofread, edit, and write stuff. It was pretty easy and kinda funny with all the errors they put in. After that, I had a chat with an HR person, the manager, and the writer on the team. They were all really nice people.
