I went through a 5-stage interview process with WRITER. It started with a 30-minute chat with talent, then a 30-minute meeting with the hiring manager. After that, there was a panel session lasting 45 minutes to an hour that included a presentation. Finally, I had two 15-minute chats with senior leaders, one of whom was the CEO. One of these was a video call and the other a phone call. They gave me feedback 2-4 days after each stage, and Emily from talent and her team kept me updated. Although I didn't get an offer, the process was well-run and respected my time. The whole thing took a bit over 4 weeks from applying to the final decision. I'd be open to future roles at WRITER because I really liked the team and I'm excited about their product and future plans.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process was really smooth and enjoyable. I got responses within 1-3 days after each round. Interviews were set up fast, and they provided personalized feedback explaining why other candidates were better. The process had 4+1 stages: first, a recruiter chat, then a hiring manager interview, followed by a panel/superday with four interviews over a few days, and a presentation. There was also a brief meeting with the CEO, though that might not be standard anymore. Compared to other AI companies in financial services, this company has a very human and thoughtful culture. Everyone I met was nice and very smart. I'd say the difficulty was average because the questions weren't too different from other places, but you really need to know the company well and connect it to your answers. Writer is doing well, and it's a tough interview process. I asked the recruiter for a quick chat at the end. Overall, the assessment felt fair, and the recruiter gave me useful feedback for future interviews, which I really appreciated.

Behavioral Technical Coding

I was initially excited to interview with Writer. The recruiter was great - clear, professional and kept me updated throughout. However, the rest of the process felt disorganised. The hiring manager was present in multiple interviews and repeated the same general questions like “Why should we hire you?” or “What makes you different from others?” It felt like they were expecting some very specific answer without giving much context. The technical questions were focused more on very specific knowledge than on problem-solving or engineering ability. It seemed like they were searching for a “unicorn” candidate with a very narrow skill set. After several interviews, I was unexpectedly asked to do a home task, which hadn’t been mentioned before. It was a basic coding problem you could find online and I wasn’t sure what they were trying to learn from it at that point. I was rejected after the task. By then, I wasn’t too disappointed, as the process had already made me question whether this was the right environment.

Behavioral Technical

Applied online and had a first round interview with the recruiter. Instead of discussing my experience and the role, the recruiter immediately asked questions typically for a team or manager interview. They weren't very friendly and were hard to gauge. They decided not to move forward with my application, which is fine. However, there were other open roles that might have suited me better. I contacted the recruiter again to thank them for considering me and to inquire about other positions (mentioning the specific reqs I was interested in). Two weeks passed with no response. Overall, Writer seems like an interesting company with a promising product, but my experience was disappointing and one of the worst I've had during my job search.
