I went through a 5-stage interview process with WRITER. It started with a 30-minute chat with talent, then a 30-minute meeting with the hiring manager. After that, there was a panel session lasting 45 minutes to an hour that included a presentation. Finally, I had two 15-minute chats with senior leaders, one of whom was the CEO. One of these was a video call and the other a phone call. They gave me feedback 2-4 days after each stage, and Emily from talent and her team kept me updated. Although I didn't get an offer, the process was well-run and respected my time. The whole thing took a bit over 4 weeks from applying to the final decision. I'd be open to future roles at WRITER because I really liked the team and I'm excited about their product and future plans.

So, my first interview was back in January, but at that time they needed someone in the Midwest and I'm on the East Coast. The recruiter reached out again two months later. After that, I ended up meeting with 5 people total. I also did a presentation for 2 of them and had a final interview with the CEO. The whole process took a while, but it was really more like a conversation than anything else I've gone through, and I got the feeling the team was genuinely interested in getting to know me. Yeah, there were a few standard 'Tell me about a time...' questions, but mostly the 30-minute (which usually went longer) chats were super relaxed and just flowed naturally.

I applied and heard back from the recruiter about a month later. We set up a 30-minute Zoom call, which was pretty standard and focused on salary, the return-to-office/hybrid policy, and my interest in Writer and this specific role. It seems like the company is growing fast and their hiring criteria might be shifting a lot. I had to chase the recruiter for an update. Based on our chat, it sounded like they're mainly looking for people from other fast-growing companies who have experience doing this before. In the end, they decided not to proceed with my application.
