Product Manager
It's a three-stage virtual interview process, with each round featuring higher-ups. First off, HR does a screening, looking at your background and asking behavioral questions. Then, a manager or head of the department interviews you, checking your job-specific skills, how you solve problems, and if you'd fit the team. Lastly, you meet with senior leaders to see your strategic thinking, if you're aligned with the company's goals, and your potential for growth. They really dig into your communication skills and how you interact virtually in each step to make sure you're a good match.

My interview experience with WorldStrides was okay, everyone was nice and the chats were engaging and made me feel comfortable. The second interview was more like a talk where we mostly discussed the role and I got to ask questions, which I liked. I'd suggest candidates ask a lot of questions because they seem to value that. However, communication was spotty between the recruiters and hiring managers. My third interview got canceled 20 minutes before it was supposed to start because the hiring manager was busy, and they wanted to reschedule for the next day. While I get that things happen, it felt a bit off to cancel so last minute, especially without the hiring manager telling me directly. It seemed disorganized and like they didn't care about my time. After the final interview, I sent a thank-you note with a question about what's next, but got no reply. I eventually got rejected via an automated email. It was a bummer not to get any personal feedback after all the effort I put in with the questionnaire and three interviews. I appreciate WorldStrides' mission, but they could improve the candidate experience with more personal and consistent communication to build trust. I hope they consider these suggestions to avoid losing good talent.

I’ve never felt the need to write a review on Glassdoor before, but World Strides is going to be the exception. You could feel that something was really off in the culture of the company just from the interviews. I went through two interviews, and in the first one they were basically talking me out of the job by telling me how awful the work-life balance would be for such low pay and how I was completely unprepared for how isolating it is to work remotely (even though I shared that I have previous experiences working from home). They made it a point to make sure I understood that, which came across very awkward/unaware that I have to chose them as much as they are choosing me. They admitted that you can’t live off the base pay and would only make enough money if you performed well and early on after accepting. I also asked why the position was open and they said they had two people recently quit because they were burnt out and couldn’t make the cut. There was very little positivity when they were speaking about World Strides or even affirmation that the company had a worthwhile mission/approach to travel sales. I also got the sense that they were hiring a large number of people for their April training, but didn’t expect most of them to last long-term. It came across like they really didn’t care about the people they were hiring - just needed warm bodies to make phone calls. It was clear to me from my conversations that it wasn’t a healthy work environment/management. I really wanted to work for them, and was surprised at how poorly they were portraying the role/department/company. I really hope they can turn things around for the sake of their current/future employees!

I had a video interview over Microsoft Teams. They asked me to turn off my video because it would be a phone-based job and they wanted to test my audio communication. Near the end, they hinted the position was filled but might have openings in account management. I was invited to a second video interview. Both were okay, but I realized it was a sales/cold-calling role with daily call quotas, which isn't a good fit for me. A week later, I got an email saying I wouldn't get an offer, which was fine. Then, a few weeks later, another email said I didn't get the job. About three weeks after that, a recruiter asked me to fill out the initial questionnaire again for a similar role. I replied that I'd already interviewed and wasn't offered the job, and asked to be removed from their system. A minute later, I got another email saying I wasn't offered the role, which might be how they removed me. I don't have issues with the company's programs or mission, just the confusing end process.
