First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wet Seal.
Sales Associate
The interview was pretty straightforward and easy. They asked about my background in customer service, handling money, and retail. I also had to describe my strengths and weaknesses. It took about 20 minutes.
- Can you tell me about your customer service experience?
- What about your experience with handling money?
- And your experience in retail?
Assistant Buyer
After I got off the phone with the recruiter, I went in for an in-person interview with the Senior Buyer. I was super excited and really prepared, and I started talking about my experience at a flash sales site where I did a similar job. But about 5 minutes into it, the buyer seemed uninterested, and the interview wrapped up pretty fast.
- Can you tell me about your background?
Assistant Store Manager
I applied online and the store manager called the next day to set up an in-person interview for early the following week. The interview went well. The store manager said she'd email me with details for two phone interviews, one with another store manager and one with the District Manager (DM). Two days later, she called and told me I needed to call another store manager that day and the DM the next day. I called the other store manager as instructed, and it seemed to go well. I called the DM the next day at the scheduled time, and that interview also went well. The DM said I'd hear back within four days. I never heard anything back, no call or email. I checked my online application, and it was inactive, meaning they weren't hiring anymore. The interview questions were easy, but they asked the same questions multiple times, even within the same interview, and it felt like they didn't read my resume. I wish they'd follow through with their communication, like calling back everyone, good or bad. It's frustrating to spend about a week on the process and then not get a simple callback.
- Can you share an instance where a staff member wasn't following your instructions, and describe how you resolved it with a specific example?
Sales
I arrived about twenty minutes before my scheduled time. I was informed the manager wasn't available yet, so I ended up waiting for quite a while. Eventually, they finished their lunch break and brought me into a back room. The interview proceeded with the manager sounding very bored and disinterested throughout.
- Could you start by telling me a little about yourself?
