Assistant Manager
I sent in my application online about two weeks ago, and the day after that, an Assistant Manager reached out. They talked with me for about 10 minutes, asking basic stuff like my availability and about my previous jobs. It was their first time doing a phone interview, and I ended up spending a lot of time trying to calm them down. The very next morning, the store manager called to set up an interview for the next week, which was five days out. That interview went for about 45 minutes, and they got back to me the afternoon after. I went in that same afternoon for the second interview. It was with a different manager and lasted 30 minutes. We quickly went over some of the earlier questions and then discussed some other scenario-based questions. I was told the store manager would contact me to arrange an interview with the District Manager at the beginning of this week, but I haven't heard anything back yet. This is a part-time role with unpredictable hours. I'm actually more suited for a Store Manager position, so I'm not really expecting them to call me back. If I were in their shoes hiring for this job, I'd expect a candidate like me to keep interviewing and then move on to something that better fits their career path.

Assistant Manager
The interview I had was VERY unorganized. When I arrived a few minutes early the manager was 'out of it' and couldn't find my resume ( I brought extras). They broke the rules and interviewed me outside the store, which was fine since the A/C was broken. Both managers asked me a ton of random questions, both at different times. I was told that the regional manager wasn't even aware of them interviewing, which made me think 'why am I here?'. It's been 3 weeks and I've heard nothing.

- Given our strict return policy, how would you handle an angry customer?
Assistant Manager
I saw the ad for the assistant manager role on Craigslist and after not hearing back for a few days, I called the store. They told me to fill out an application, which I returned a couple of days later, having to wait because someone else was also submitting theirs. I was offered an interview that same day for myself and the other person, which I didn't realize was a group interview at first. I assumed getting an interview so quickly meant I'd be working within a couple of weeks, but that was wrong. The first interview went well, and I was told to call back in a week, but they only said they'd call if interested. However, they called the next day to schedule another interview with the store manager. While I was dropping off thank you cards for the managers, I ended up getting a third interview with a store manager located about 30 minutes away. During that interview, we discussed pay, and it seemed like I was being offered the job. It's now been two weeks since I've heard anything, as they mentioned needing to speak with their district manager, and it's been almost a month without a job offer. I feel like I'm constantly having to reach out to them to get updates.
- How can you motivate an associate?
