Software Engineer
The interview process had some confusing parts regarding the interview content. I was told the phone screen would be a LeetCode style algorithmic round, but it ended up being a practical frontend challenge using JS/HTML/CSS. The question itself wasn't too hard, but it was unexpected. The onsite consisted of 4 rounds. My understanding was that there would be two rounds focused on frontend/daily tasks and one LeetCode round. However, I actually encountered two LeetCode hard rounds and one JS round. The recruiters were generally nice, though one relayed incorrect information about me to the main recruiter. The head recruiter was professional and seemed more capable. The technical interviewers were mostly friendly. I didn't get an offer, and they requested a call to inform me, which I found inconvenient as an email would have been preferable for rejections.

Program Operations Associate
I had a 30-minute Zoom call with the Hiring Manager/VP of Program Ops. We started by chatting about the role, benefits, compensation, and growth opportunities. Near the end, the interviewer seemed a bit restless, like they wanted to wrap things up quickly, which wasn't ideal. But overall, it went fine, and they answered my questions.

Account Manager
So, 2020 was a wild year, and while it taught us a lot, some companies, like WePay, still haven't learned that recruiting should be more human, especially for those affected by Covid. I had a phone screen with HR where we talked about the process, background, and salary. My recruiter was super professional and assured me the team would take care of me. Next up was an hour-long phone screen with the hiring manager. My background in CNP merchant acquiring and Relationship Management seemed like a good fit, even though this role focused on PSPs. We found out I knew someone on the WePay Product team, which got me excited for the panel interview. Two days later, I got an automated rejection email at 3:07 AM. It's a shame, especially now in 2021, that companies still handle recruiting this way. Candidates who go through more than half the process deserve more than a generic rejection email.

- Why do you want to work for WePay?
- Can you give an example of solving a problem that involved multiple teams?
Site Reliability Engineer
The whole interview experience was quite messy. Initially, the recruiter missed our scheduled meeting and called 10 minutes late, which is understandable. But then, after discussing availability, the recruiter went silent for a month before apologizing for not scheduling the interview. It felt like they were just going through the motions. Finally, after about a month, the interview was set up with the Team Lead, and it went well, though not perfectly. I followed up with the recruiter via email four times seeking an update, but got no response. Even a rejection would have been appreciated. It's been 2.5 months with no word back, and honestly, the lack of communication really highlights the company culture.
