First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Waste Connections.
Truck Driver
It was a really quick and easy interview process. They wanted to know about my driving experience and if I had any issues with smells. The people interviewing me were very nice. I had an in-person interview and am waiting to hear back. They called and said they liked me, discussed my potential start date and what I wanted for pay. I asked for a dollar more than they initially offered. They told me they would call back on Monday to let me know their final offer.

IT Field Technician
We started with a recruiter phone screen, then a virtual chat with the managers. After that, I had an in-person meeting with the site managers, and finally, a video call with the higher-ups.
- Could you share some information about yourself?
- What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
- How do you feel about the demanding nature of this job?
Sales Development Representative
I had two interviews for the SDR role. The conversation went well, but after the second interview, I was ghosted. The interviewer asked about my sales background and my knowledge of waste management, mentioning that most hires are internal referrals with prior waste management experience.
- How would you deal with rejection?
- Can you describe your sales experience?
- Are you familiar with the waste management industry?
Sustainability Outreach Coordinator
So I had two phone screenings first, one with a recruiter and then with the manager. After that, I decided it wasn't really the right fit for me. The next step would've been an in-person interview where they wanted me to do a presentation on why I'd be a good fit. That sounded pretty cool, but the commute was just too much.
- Can you tell me about your past experience?
