First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at VITAS Healthcare.
Hospice Nurse Case Manager
It was pretty easy and everyone was friendly. After I applied, a recruiter called me about a week later. We scheduled the interview for later that week. The hiring manager and another lead RN interviewed me.
- What motivates you to become a hospice nurse?
Registered Nurse
Applied for RN positions, spoke with a recruiter about triage and admissions roles. Was told an interview would be scheduled for triage, but got a call the next week saying it was no longer available. Then the recruiter talked about an admissions role and said they'd call back to schedule an interview after I shared my availability. Never heard back about that either. Follow-up communication felt limited.
- What sparked your interest in Vitas Healthcare?
Sales Representative
It was pretty easy. The process had two parts: first with the hiring manager, then a second interview with the GM. They asked basic interview questions. The main focus was on what you could contribute and offer as a sales representative.
- Tell me about what you can bring to the table as a sales representative.
- What do you have to offer in terms of your sales skills and experience?
- Describe your approach to sales and how you plan to succeed.
Telephone Triage RN
I applied for the job on Glassdoor and the manager reached out via email to set up a Zoom interview. They offered me the job after the interview and I accepted. It's important to try and get a start date or onboarding class on the first or last day of the month. Benefits take a while to kick in, about 60 days after your start date, so expect it to be closer to 90 days total. New and existing employees don't get much HR support. Keep good records of everything you do. During onboarding, if you fall behind on your computer training, it'll mess up your actual job because they have monthly education requirements. DON'T FALL BEHIND OR YOU'LL BE SCREWED. They say they'll give you time for education but it's not enough, and it's too late. I had to spend 9 hours of my own time to catch up after my supervisor was on my case for weeks. Then they'll get mad at you for taking the extra time, but it feels so good to finally be caught up.
- Can you share an example of a challenging situation you faced at work and how you managed it?
- What is your approach to dealing with a difficult colleague?
