First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Virtua Health.
Registered Nurse
I interviewed with the nurse manager, assistant nurse manager, and two RNs. They asked me questions and then let me ask them questions. The leadership team discussed the organization's culture and asked what I could contribute, mentioning Shared Governance and that it's a Magnet organization looking for staff who can contribute.
- Can you describe your experience contributing to projects and initiatives on your current nursing unit?
- What was your specific role in those projects and initiatives?
Patient Registrar
I applied on their website and two days later I had an email to interview with a recruiter. Interview was easy a good amount of questions but if you’re polite and show empathy you’ll be fine. Next I was called back for another interview with talent acquisition this one was even more straightforward and easy. Then I was invited to Voorhees for another interview where I was interviewed by a lead (also another girl was being interviewed by the hr boss for the same position). The lead was extremely nice and welcoming which made it easy to answer the questions. I left and they emailed me two assessments. One is a data entry one to see how accurately you can type patients info, the other is a general knowledge of computers, which was literally just minimize the screen, exit out of a page, and click on a tab. Very very easy. After I completed those, I had to wait to hear back when I did hear back. I did he paperwork and then they emailed to fill out a background screening and then after that we had to pass a physical and drug test. I passed both and was emailed my date to start along with my schedule for the month and next month.
- Do you have any planned vacations or trips in the next three weeks?
- What is your understanding of teamwork?
- How do you feel about collecting co-pays from patients who are ill?
Physical Therapist
The interview process was disappointing. The HR representative seemed disorganized. I interviewed with three different groups of people. While they seemed like nice individuals, their communication was lacking. The goal seemed to be meeting with people who actually do the work, but many seemed disengaged and were asking generic, scripted questions. It didn’t feel personal or engaging at all. After the three interviews, I was told I was moving forward and to expect an email with the next steps. I didn't hear back for several days. When I followed up, the HR rep informed me they were no longer hiring for the position.
- Can you tell me about a time you had a disagreement with a coworker and how you resolved it?
Technical Specialist
The hiring manager reached out the day after I applied to discuss the role. He set up an interview for that Friday, which went well, and they liked the questions I asked. Following that, I was invited for a tour of the hospital led by the Head of IT. I asked job-related questions during the tour. Unfortunately, I didn't hear back for months until the recruiter informed me the position was on hold. Weeks ago, the role reopened, and I reapplied. The same hiring manager contacted me for another interview, this time with the full team, which also went well. They then scheduled a final interview with the team (no tour this time). It went great, and I received a job offer the next day, which I accepted.
- What knowledge can you share with us?
- Describe your approach to managing a very angry customer.
