Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Virtua Health.
Registered Nurse
The office was quite nice and calming, and the staff were all very polite and acted professionally. A recruiter brought me in for the interview and asked me standard questions about handling personnel conflicts and my personal strengths and weaknesses. I was also given a benefits package, and the recruiter told me about the standard pay and union dues. She mentioned that there were many RN jobs available and finished by saying I bring a lot to the table due to my background. It seems like she's trying to find a department for me to interview with. This was about two weeks ago. I think the interview went well, but I'm still in limbo waiting for a call that might not come. Overall, it was a pleasant first RN interview experience.
- How do you deal with conflict?
- What are your areas of weakness?
- What action would you take if you observed a coworker acting unethically?
Registered Nurse
I applied online and heard back in two days for a HR phone screen. Then I had a phone interview with the Nurse recruiter, which went well. She asked me basic stuff like why I want to be a nurse, why Virtua, and why medical-surgical nursing. She also asked about a time with a difficult patient and a time my actions led to a good outcome. After that, she set up an in-person interview with the nurse director. It was pretty chill in her office. She asked similar questions to the recruiter and then gave a detailed explanation of the job and the work environment. I'm still waiting to find out if I got the offer, but they said it would take about a week, and it's been 4 days since the interview.
- What nursing school lesson has stayed with you?
- Can you share an instance where you pleased a customer?
- How would your clinical instructor characterize you?
Registered Nurse
Walked into their career center, watched a short video about the company, and then was brought into a private room for the interview. Sat down with the interviewer who asked questions and explained the job. Didn't explain the interview process or what to expect. The interview was less than 10 minutes.
- How do your values align with Virtua's values?
- Can you describe a challenging patient situation you've encountered and how you managed it?
- In what ways has your clinical instructor contributed to your learning?
