Customer Success Manager
I saw a job posting on LinkedIn for a CSM and reached out to the hiring manager directly. They said HR would contact me. Later, I got a denial to my application, so I emailed the Hiring manager again. After that, HR reached out to schedule an interview. I did the interview and thought it went well. It took over a week and a half to hear back, and the hiring manager (who I had already been emailing) said they were looking for someone with more experience. We had already discussed my experience via email, so it felt like I was just being led on.
- Regarding your job history, can you explain why you haven't stayed at some positions for an extended period?
Customer Support Supervisor
Applied online and had an initial phone screening. Near the end of that call, I was asked about my availability for 11am-8pm shifts, which I said I could not do. We agreed I wasn't a fit due to those hours, and I got an email the next day to move forward. I emailed twice to confirm I couldn't do those hours and would proceed if they acknowledged that. The next interview went well with the hiring managers, but they confirmed the hours at the end. A few days later, the HR recruiter called again about the hours, and I reiterated I could NOT work them. The day after that, I got a request to interview with the Director and Sr Manager. That interview felt great, and they said I'd hear back in about a week. A week passed, so I emailed the HR recruiter. She said she'd update me the next day. Another week went by, and I'd written them off due to HR red flags. Then, I got an automated rejection email. Since I'd had several rounds, I expected feedback, so I emailed the HR recruiter and her manager. The manager asked her to give me feedback. It's been another week with no word from her. The company seems great, but the HR recruiter makes them look bad.
- Would you be available to work from 11am to 8pm?
Marketing
I backed out of the running for this job after the initial Recruiter call because scheduling was a mess and the Recruiter seemed totally checked out and clueless about the job and the company. They first asked if I could chat on a certain date and time, I said yes, and then heard nothing. I got an email on Sunday after we were supposed to talk asking for more times. During the actual call, the Recruiter couldn't answer basic questions about the job, the company's overall goals, or its values. The only thing they could explain was company culture, with the usual 'work hard, play hard' line. They also didn't seem to care about my answers. I withdrew after weeks of silence, especially since they said I'd hear back within three business days. Too many warning signs for me!
