First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vertex.
Computer Science Intern
So I started with a recruiter phone screen, then had a Teams behavioral interview with a senior HR person. After that, I had a technical interview with two senior software developers.
- Can you describe the core components of Java Object-Oriented Programming?
Intern
The interview process was easy. First, there was a 30-minute briefing about the position and an introduction from me. The next round was more technical and asked why I was interested in Vertex. I heard back in under 3 weeks. My advice is to be yourself and know the company's history.
- Tell me what you know about Vertex.
Technology Intern
Had an HR screen first, then a 1-hour panel interview. They asked some strange behavioral questions, like how to improve coffee access, what classes I'm looking forward to, and if I'm into vibecoding. Honestly, it felt like they lost interest midway, even though I really tried to sound excited. It was more of an interrogation than a chat by the end.
- How would you technologically solve the problem of getting coffee?
- Which courses are you looking forward to taking?
- Are you enthusiastic about vibecoding?
