I went to the company office for two technical interviews. The first one was all about coding and solving problems. The second one was more in-depth technical talk and questions about my projects. It was all pretty smooth and professional.

I knew some people who worked there before. The process started with a recruiter call, then a video chat with the hiring manager, and finally an in-person panel interview with senior leaders. The recruiter call was fine. The video interview with the hiring manager felt a bit rushed but they seemed interested, and it made me want to know more about their plans. The next interview was supposed to be with a panel of senior leaders, all men, in a conference room, but the hiring manager wasn't even there. It just felt off, especially since I didn't get to talk to any other marketers. The panel interview date kept getting moved around. Even though I can handle panel interviews, this one felt wrong because it was scheduled when the hiring manager was busy, and it was with only senior leaders, all men. It made me question the company culture and how women are treated there, as they weren't represented in the interview or on the website. I drove 40 minutes for this interview, and they expect 4 days onsite later? Maybe they were all out of office, but then why schedule it then? After the interview, they said they'd let me know that afternoon or by Monday. Three weeks later, I got a rejection email. Honestly, I knew it wasn't a fit for me after the interview. I sent a thank you email but didn't push for updates because I felt I wouldn't be valued or able to try new marketing ideas there. And why hide the marketing team and not include them in the process?

So, the interview process had a few steps. It started with a quick chat with a recruiter, pretty standard stuff. The main thing you have to do is this writing task. The recruiter told me to download a free trial of the exam material to get a feel for the questions and how they explain the answers. Then, you get a set of writing assignments: create new questions, answer some they give you and explain why that answer is right, and even make a visual to go with an answer. It took a good chunk of time to get the sample just right, making sure it fit the UWorld style. After I submitted it, they gave me feedback to revise and resubmit, which was a collaborative editing process. The last part was meeting the team director, the subject matter experts, and some execs in person. It's a bit of a process, but it really shows you what the job is like and how the team works together.

An HR person emailed me a link to schedule my first call over Google Meet. They didn't show up. I emailed them 9 minutes after it was supposed to start, and they emailed me back 13 minutes late to reschedule. For the rescheduled interview, they were late again. I emailed 5 minutes after to see if we were still on, and they showed up over 7 minutes late. The questions felt basic and repetitive, and I didn't feel like they let me show who I am. After the interview, the HR person said they'd send my info to the Managing Editor and I'd hear back in 24-48 business hours. I never heard back.
