Standard interview process. They asked about my willingness to undergo a background check. My educational background was not a focus. They inquired about my language skills and seemed disappointed that I don't speak Spanish. They also asked if I had a basic understanding of immigration.

The process was smooth and they responded quickly. The recruiter was friendly and the communication was very clear. I knew what to expect and that did not change throughout the process. I felt treated respectfully and would apply again.

I got this interview through a career fair. It was a pretty standard interview with typical questions, and they weren't super personable. The interviewers seemed really into the job though and were nice to chat with, so it was an okay experience overall.

I got reached out by a recruiter about the role and they mentioned USG was looking to hire quickly if they found the right person. I did a phone screen with the recruiter, and then a few days later I had a 30-minute chat with the hiring manager, who seemed really interested in me moving on to a panel interview. The recruiter contacted me again asking for references and my salary expectations, thinking an offer would be made right after the panel call if it went well. But then, 90 minutes before the panel interview, I was told the panel members refused to interview me because they didn't think I was technical enough. This is wild, I've never had an employer refuse to meet me after scheduling an interview in 12 years. Usually, they'll at least talk with an open mind, even if I'm not a perfect fit. Not this time, just a flat-out refusal. It makes me question USG's DEI policies if panels can just reject candidates without ever talking to them. Honestly, this has been the most unprofessional experience I've had interviewing. It also says a lot about the internal team dynamics if a group can tank the whole process like this.
