CFIUS Analyst
I went through 3 interviews and made it to the final round, though only one director showed up. It was a scenario-based interview as I expected. They were looking for 5 correct answers, but I only gave 4, which seemed to displease him. They were hiring for a GS-9 position, which is typically for recent master's graduates, so it's a bit odd that they expected expert-level knowledge during the interviews, as that's usually what training is for. They didn't offer me the job, but it's probably for the best since I got a bad vibe during the last round.
- Could you walk me through a hypothetical transaction and explain how you would approach mitigating the associated risks?
Accountant
It was a straightforward interview process. It was a panel interview with about 4-5 people asking questions about my experiences and teamwork. They also asked what I would do in certain situations. It's a great place and agency compared to others I've worked for.
- How would you handle communication with a difficult customer or colleague?
Administrative Support Specialist
I had an initial phone screen which went well. After that, I interviewed with two people who asked some good questions. The person coordinating the interview was super responsive, even when I asked for an update. They rescheduled my in-person interview once because of a scheduling issue on their end, but eventually, I got to meet two staff members I'd be supporting. I was early, but the interview started late. Overall, it was a good conversation and went well. However, the post-interview experience has been pretty bad, they kind of ghosted me. I sent a thank you email, but got no reply or confirmation. Then I sent another follow-up email about the status, and still no response. It's disappointing that a federal agency would do this to candidates.
- Can you tell me about your greatest strength?
- What would you consider your greatest weakness?
