The Marketing Coordinator role at the College of Pharmacy involved two interview rounds: one virtual on Teams and one in-person at their location. They asked common questions like 'why us', 'salary expectations', and 'why you', and wanted answers using the STAR method. It was important to show examples and have a portfolio ready. Two people interviewed me: the department head and someone from the UC foundation.

The hiring process starts with a virtual interview. After that, there might be in-person talks with a search committee and other people from the university. It's a good idea to look up your interviewers beforehand and get ready. The university's Career Studio has stuff to help you get ready for interviews. You can practice common questions, learn how the interview works, and use tools like BigInterview for practice. They also give advice on body language, listening, and talking well in interviews. Just remember, interviews can be really different depending on the program or department. You should check the specific program or department website or call their admissions or hiring office for the most accurate info.

The interviewers were really nice, they seemed like genuinely interested people who wanted to understand my motivation for working in this field and specifically at UC. After they introduced themselves, I did a self-introduction as is typical. I was asked about my familiarity with their work. Then, they inquired about my past experiences and how they relate to the requirements of the role. After the interview, one of the interviewers provided some helpful feedback for future reference.

This was a remote interview for an office job, starting with a phone screen. I was then quickly moved to the second round, a 2-3 hour process with multiple segments covering different departments. They also requested a 10-15 minute pitch for the job, which pays over 50k. I felt qualified and got positive signals from the hiring manager about an offer. However, after two weeks of silence and two follow-up emails, I learned I didn't get the offer. This poor communication and the numerous requests for unpaid work, combined with low pay, make me hesitant to apply to UC again.
