So, my interview with Unit4 had a few parts to it, aiming to see if I had the right skills and if I'd fit in. First, there was this intro chat about my history, what I've done that's relevant, and why I'm keen on Unit4. Then, I talked with the hiring manager, going over my old projects, how I tackle problems, and if my background matched what the team was looking for. After that, we got into the nitty-gritty of the technical side, like the tools I use, specific job-related situations, how I dealt with tough spots, and working with others. We also touched on how I communicate, work with people, and juggle tasks and what people expect. The last chat was about what I expect from the job, what the role involves, and if my career plans line up with where Unit4 is headed.

The interview process consisted of three stages: an initial conversation with HR, a technical writing assessment that involved tasks like redacting instructions and correcting a sample document, and a final interview with the Hiring Manager and a Senior Technical Writer. The final interview lasted for an hour. Both interviewers were friendly and communicated effectively, allowing me ample opportunity to discuss my background. I felt they gained a thorough understanding of my qualifications. The decision was communicated a week later.

Had three interviews total. First was with HR and then two with managers. The interviews were good, and the interviewers were helpful and wanted me to succeed. Some stuff said in the interview like 'We will be investing a lot of time in you' and 'This is a 9-5, are you sure you are looking for a 40-hour job?' felt a bit weird. Got feedback that the first two interviews were positive. Finally, two weeks after the last interview, I heard back that they weren't moving forward with my application because they had found other candidates. HR didn't reply to my email asking for a reason.

I had a first phone call with a recruiter, where she asked some simple questions. A few days later I got an email to do a 2nd interview, of 45 minutes, by video call. The interview went relatively well and they provided feedback at the end of the week, as they said they would. However, what totally changed everything for me, was what they mentioned on the rejection email: "Unfortunately, this role has been filled with another candidate before we were able to properly consider your application. I wanted to close the loop with you since we won't be progressing your application for this particular role, but let you know that we'd love the opportunity to consider you for other roles as they pop up." I had 2 interviews, one of them of almost 1 hour, for a position that would not even pay 1000 brutto, and after all that they say the position had already been fulfilled. Resuming, they wasted my time for nothing. It's the first time this has happened to me. Also, they repeated, in different words, the same question 4x during the interview.
