The interview process is in reverse order. First, you'll have a recruiter call if you pass the CV screening. After that, if you move forward, you'll have a panel interview with the line managers, followed by an HR interview. The interviews are conducted via online teams meeting.

My interview with UnionBank began well. The initial chat with the Hiring Officers was good; they explained the role and I felt heard, which made me keen to join. But, it went downhill in the final interview with the Line Manager. The interview was on video while she was driving, so there were constant distractions, bad audio, and interruptions. It was hard to concentrate, and she sometimes cut me off when I was talking. When I asked her to repeat a question, she sounded passive-aggressive. I never heard back after that. I was really hopeful at first, but the lack of professionalism in that last stage was disheartening. It's a pity, because I liked UnionBank at the start. I hope they use this as feedback to make sure candidates get a fair and respectful interview.

I went to a hiring event at their office. First, I talked to HR about my work history and if I was eligible to work at the bank. Then I did some behaviorial and cognitive tests. After that, I was supposed to interview with the line manager, but HR told me at 4 PM that the manager wasn't available and we had to reschedule. It was a bummer and I felt like I wasted my afternoon. Later that day, the second interview was online around 6 PM through a messaging app, with no warning or invite beforehand. The manager seemed tired and like they had to do it because of the event. We still talked about my skills and experience. The manager mentioned a possible final interview with the reporting manager. A week later, HR sent a generic rejection email. I get that big events are tough, but better communication and planning would have made it a better experience.

So the interview process has 2 stages in total. First, there was a phone interview with HR where they asked about my background, like my college undergrad, any extra-curricular activities, and work experience. If you pass that HR interview, you then go to their office for a case study and a panel interview with 3 department heads and other candidates. Passing the case study means you move on to the panel interview. The case study was about digitization because that's the company's mission. The panel interview mainly consisted of questions about myself and how I handle myself in different situations.

  • Can you share an experience where you were in a leadership role?
  • Could you provide details about your academic background, extracurricular involvements, and professional history?
  • What is your perspective on digitizing company operations?
