Systems Administrator
I reached out to this consulting engineering firm for a role that fit my background. A manager contacted me quickly and encouraged me to apply. I prepared thoroughly for the entire interview process. Unfortunately, the interview was quite discouraging. The questions felt blunt and more like an interrogation than a conversation. One interviewer showed disrespect by rolling their eyes while I was speaking, and another made a dismissive remark about my experience. It seemed they had already decided before I even finished. After the interview, the recruiter promised an update by the end of that week. I followed up politely when the deadline passed, but I haven't heard anything back. The whole experience was misleading, giving me false hope after they actively recruited me, only to ghost me without basic courtesy. It was a significant waste of my time and energy. This experience makes me question the company's internal culture if this is how they treat candidates they personally invite.

Electrical Engineer Intern
Had an initial phone screen with the recruiter to discuss my background. Then, I had a Zoom interview with 3 engineers where they asked mostly behavioral questions. No technical questions were asked at all. It was a pleasant experience overall, and the recruiter and engineers were friendly and courteous.

Specialist
I had a quick call with the recruiter, and then I interviewed with the hiring manager. That went great. After that, I met her team, and then had a final interview with her supervisor. Everything seemed positive, and they said I'd hear back in 24 hours, or possibly 'early next week.' This week, I got a generic email saying they were moving forward with other candidates. It was disappointing after spending over 4 hours interviewing and preparing, especially to get a form email.
- Tell me about a time you faced a challenge.
- Describe how you deal with difficult individuals.
- How do you balance being a supportive partner with maintaining adherence to established processes?
Technology Consultant
They didn't seem to know what they were hiring for, and it became clear they were just looking for free consulting. They wanted to create a theoretical position to attract more business without any actual plan for it. So, they posted the job to get knowledgeable people in for interviews to figure things out. It felt like a complete waste of time for those interviewed, giving them lots of free ideas. I would have been really mad if I'd gone in person and wasted my travel time. If there was a real job, I feel sorry for whoever gets it.
- What steps would you take to launch this initiative?
- How would you approach training for the team?
- What specific offerings would you propose?
