First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tumi.
Manager
This was a short and sweet interview with great, detailed questions in a comfortable environment. The interviewer was relaxed and had extensive experience in retail with a tremendous amount of product knowledge and history. The company's history and products are very impressive.
- Can you tell me about your experience in retail sales?
Sales Associate
I applied online and then had a face-to-face interview with the Store in-charge, followed by an interview with the Area Manager. The entire process took about a month. It felt more like a friendly chat than a formal interview, which made for a really good experience throughout.
- What is your knowledge about Tumi?
Human Resources Role
Recruiter reached out on LinkedIn to set up a phone chat. We talked about salary expectations, my general experience, and then they invited me for an in-person interview. The in-person interview was alright. They asked about my visits to their stores and my thoughts on the experience. I was asked to describe my typical workday. The follow-up took a while. I sent thank you notes and followed up twice for an update. A month later, I got the rejection. I bet they reply faster to people who are doing better in the process.
- What have you done in the past and what is your technical expertise?
Store Manager
They are looking for sales leaders who are motivated and passionate. They want someone who can multitask and push the team to maximize sales. They really care about how you'd get the team to be better at sales. The interview wasn't in a private office, but there weren't many distractions. They are friendly but get straight to the point. Be ready.
- What are your thoughts on providing feedback or coaching to your manager?
- Can you describe a situation where you had to manage your own time effectively?
- How have you gone about motivating or inspiring the people you've managed?
