Behavioral Technical Technical

The interview process had two technical rounds. The first one started with behavioral questions about my resume, then moved to basic math like Calculus and Combinatorics, and finally some finance questions such as option delta and spread arbitrage. The second technical round involved a betting question, stochastic/markov/recursive questions, and a dice roll probability question. It was followed by some market intuition questions, and I was advised to stay current with market news. The questions felt pretty chill, with a stronger focus on market knowledge, though this might be because of my prior experience. I made two minor errors in the second technical interview but answered everything else correctly and felt I performed better than in the first. Despite this, I was ghosted after being told I'd hear back within a week, which was really unprofessional and rude.

So I had 3 phone interviews and then a final onsite. The first two phone interviews were technical, covering basic probability stuff, nothing too crazy. Then there was one behavioural phone screen where they asked a lot of questions about me and my values. The final onsite round was heavy on finance knowledge, like interest rates, options, and current financial news. They barely asked any math or probability questions. I'm good at math but lacked the finance knowledge they wanted.

I applied online, and was interviewed via phone by traders from various desks. The traders were professional and were clear when it came to technical questions. The point of contact that scheduled interviews was also responsive and organized. Then I had an interview with the CEO and after the standard questions about resume/background he proceeded to ask personal questions irrelevant to the role. Then he proceeded to probe me on my gap years between my undergrad and graduate program. I was initially supposed to interview with another person instead of the CEO, but due to scheduling issues, I ended up being interviewed by him. The firm seems great overall, and are clearly top performers in the field. Just avoid any interviews with the CEO if possible. I'm not sure what the intent of personal questions were. But my rejection email was more personal than your typical copy+paste template and specifically mentioned they weren't left confident I'd be a good fit. Interpret that as you will.

Technical Behavioral

This was a bad interview experience overall. The whole process dragged on for more than 2 months. It included 2 phone calls and 1 character interview. HR was super slow to reply to emails, sometimes not even responding. The technical part was surprisingly easy, just probability and mental math questions, which I answered quickly. The 1-hour character interview, however, got really personal. It felt like they weren't looking for someone who could do the job, but rather someone who fit a very specific, exclusive culture, race, or social group. It was an eye-opening experience, even after interviewing with many trading firms. I was ultimately rejected after the character interview.
