I interviewed with a large, well-known team and also completed a HackerRank take-home assignment. The take-home was a 3-hour test with several research problems, submitted as Jupyter notebooks. The requirements were pretty vague and didn't clearly state expectations. It included a coding problem with a faulty description, and the whole test felt more suited for a new grad than an experienced hire. They mostly asked behavioral questions about my past work, like 'how did you do xyz at your previous job', with little other discussion.

The hiring process started with a screening call with a manager (not the hiring manager). After that, there was a full day onsite interview, which was the first and final round. The communication was quite slow, with the initial screening call happening 2-3 weeks after I applied, and the onsite interview taking place 4-5 weeks after the screening. The screening call focused on Linux, as mentioned in the job description. However, the onsite interview was entirely about financial markets, which wasn't mentioned in the job description at all. It seems they're looking for someone with experience in a trading firm rather than just a finance background. They mentioned that studying for SIE or S63 might be more beneficial for getting the job than Linux skills, although you'd need those too.

It kicked off with this online assessment, super hard questions, I only got one fully right and another one passed like half the test cases, out of three total. Even so, I got into the first technical round, where it was all about Data Structures and Algorithms/Competitive Programming, plus some basic C++ stuff. Round two was about designing a system with OOP in C++, and some Operating Systems questions. Then, the hiring manager round, focusing on low-level system design and talking about my previous projects and internships. The last step was HR, just the usual behavioral questions.

Applied via Linkedin and their portal. Got a Harkerank link with 2 programming tasks (1 neural network, 1 data science) and 4 theory questions. Followed by 3 technical rounds: one with an engineer, one with a global team lead (who was knowledgeable), and one with a researcher (who had a weird attitude). The HR was unprofessional, uncommunicative about the process, and even duplicated my interview after I had to CC the team lead to get a response. They seem to pay well, but my experience lacked respect.
