Presentation Case Behavioral

The interview process was quite long, with the final round involving three interviewers and lasting about 1 hour and 20 minutes. The interviewers seemed distracted and uninterested. The process included creating a full presentation and a role-play scenario where I had to try and retain a customer who wanted to cancel their service. I reached the final round but then heard nothing for weeks. They eventually contacted me, explaining that my recruiter had left the company, which led to them forgetting to send a rejection email. It felt unprofessional, and I think I'm better off not working there.

The first round was with a cofounder. They seemed distracted and checked out from the start. They had zero interviewing skills, just introduced themselves and asked me to talk about my journey. They weren't looking at the camera or paying attention and didn't ask follow-up questions. While it's a good idea in theory to have a cofounder do the first round, this was a waste of time. They could use some training on how to conduct an interview professionally.

Behavioral Technical

The interview invite said it would be a high-level interview where we discuss the role and my experience and give me the opportunity to ask questions as well. It ended up that we went right into grilling me about my experience (after the interviewer started the meeting late) with absolutely no rundown of the company or the role. She asked questions that dove much deeper than "high-level", which thankfully I was prepared for but it definitely felt like an odd bait and switch. She only left me about 3 minutes at the end of the interview to ask her any questions which only produced ambiguous rambling on her part. One of the least engaging interviews I have ever experienced, to the point I was surprised that I was speaking to a client-facing manager due to the lack of people skills. Torch seems to be a great and innovative company but I certainly feel I dodged a bullet with getting rejected from this team, especially considering I was told the average book of business for their AMs is 300 clients which is SINISTER.

The interview has 3 steps. First, a 30-minute screening call with a recruiter where they ask basic questions about your past work experience. Second, a rapid-fire mock sales call with an SDR manager. You'll do different role plays and get feedback after each one. It's tough, so prep and have some scripting ready. This was the hardest part for me. Third, you get a take-home assignment and present it to an SDR manager. If you prep and think critically, you should be fine. The other part of this step is another SDR manager asking in-depth personal questions.

  • Tell me about your previous work experiences.
  • Walk me through a mock sales call, detailing your approach.
