First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Thrive LA.
Sales Account Executive
They hire everyone at the same entry-level position and expect them to work their way up, with no outside hires. The pay was advertised as 46k base + commission, but during the second interview, it was revealed that the base pay is actually 36k, with the average salesperson making 46k. The role involves getting businesses to sign up for Amazon Business accounts, and then you earn a commission on their purchases through that account for the first 30 days. The first interview covers your resume and provides more details about the role. The second interview is with the Director of the branch, who focuses on personal questions about your life and upbringing, essentially doing a vibe check rather than discussing your resume. They do not offer benefits like medical or dental, which was surprising when I inquired. I received an offer but declined due to having a degree and the potential to secure a more competitive offer elsewhere. For those without a degree, this could be a viable entry-level option to gain experience.
- Did you participate in any sports or activities during high school?
Accountant Executive
I was contacted back pretty quickly by the company and we set up a Zoom meeting. I had the chance to ask some questions, and I was interviewed by a really nice and respectful person from the company. They told me when I could expect to hear from the CEO, and he did call me three days later, right on time.
- What sets you apart from other candidates?
- What motivated you to apply for this position at our company?
- Could you describe your professional background?
Sales Associate
The interview started with a prerecorded video where I had to answer 6-8 questions about sales and my thoughts on performance-based commission pay. After that, I got a call saying I was moving forward. I then spoke with an HR representative for about 15 minutes. She asked about my past work experience and gave a quick rundown of the company. The HR rep was really nice and super friendly. After that, I had a second interview over Skype with a senior sales rep. They talked about the day-to-day stuff and what I could expect from the job. This person knew a lot and did a great job explaining the job duties and expectations. They were also really open about how long they'd been with the company and their successes. They answered all my questions and gave specific examples of things they'd done to be successful. Later that evening, I got a final call from the CEO with my offer. The whole process was really pleasant and made me feel good about the time I spent. I learned a lot about the company and felt like I would have fit in with the positive people I talked to. I turned down the offer because I got another one that was a better match for my career goals. I think this would be a great job for someone wanting an entry-level sales role with chances to move up in a solid company. Everyone was really nice, and even though I didn't accept, I have a great impression of how the company operates. They really value their company principles and want everyone to feel appreciated and do well. If you're willing to work hard and use the skills they teach, I believe you can do very well.
- What are your thoughts on commission pay based on performance?
- If you could have brunch with any Disney character, who would it be and what's your reasoning?
Account Manager
I got a strong sense of community from the staff during my interview, and they seemed pretty excited about the company's market position and future direction. The managers I spoke with were open about their aggressive expansion goals and the kind of people they need to meet them. I asked them about compensation, PTO, benefits, etc. They also gave me a rundown on the day-to-day job and its responsibilities, which was very transparent.
- Have you managed teams before?
