First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Thorntons LLC.
Trainee
It was quite a long interview process. They asked many questions about commercial awareness and my knowledge of Thornton's work. The layout was the same as the application, and the questions seemed specific to the branch. The interviewers were friendly and made the process comfortable.
- Can you tell me about a recent legal decision that had a significant impact?
Assistant Manager
I went through 2 interviews over 2 days. The first was with a recruiter, and it went really well. She asked standard questions for the role and went over the job duties. The second interview was with the District Manager, and that's where things went bad. The store I was supposed to go to for the interview had no idea I was coming, and the DM was 10 minutes late and didn't even introduce himself. He also had a really negative attitude the whole time. I could tell from his attitude and behavior early on that I wasn't going to get the job. I just wish he'd given me a real shot.
- How do you inspire your team?
Guest Service Representative
The interview process started with a chat with the store's General Manager. After that, I talked with the regional manager. The final step was a joint meeting with both the store GM and the regional manager. During these interviews, they asked questions to understand my interest in working there and my suitability for the role. They also aimed to get a general sense of my mindset and my short-term future goals.
- What makes you want to work for Thorntons, Inc.?
- What aspects of your previous job did you find most enjoyable?
- What aspects of your previous job did you find least enjoyable?
General Manager
I interviewed remotely for this role, as I was considering moving to Louisville. The entire team I interacted with across all three interviews was professional and supportive. We talked about the job's responsibilities and also about living in Louisville and the surrounding areas. They were happy to answer my questions and understood that this was a significant decision for my family and me.
- Could you describe your approach to management?
- In your opinion, what qualities define a good leader?
