I worked through Christmas as a casual and then interviewed with two managers. After that, I got the job. The interview had questions about situations and also about being a team player.

The interview process was pretty straightforward with 2 rounds of interviews, followed by a 3rd final call with the team in New Zealand. The first round was mainly an introduction to gauge motivation and ensure alignment between the employer and employee. The second round was with the team manager and focused more on the job itself.

It was alright. Felt like the interviewer made up her mind from the start, despite her smiles. Continued on with the interview for the experience. Interview felt rushed, maybe because she was already behind with the previous interview. She asked questions and I responded, didn't feel like I hadn't given enough of an answer before she rushed on to the next question. Was told that I would hear a response from them within a week, which was true. Seemed more interested in my cashier experience and initiatives I had started or been involved in creating (none that I could think of) than anything else.

Applied online, got a call about a week or two later for an interview. Showed up and it was a group interview with 5 other people, mostly students. Two interviewers asked questions, sometimes one, sometimes the other. We got paper to write answers on after discussing in the group. We introduced ourselves, then got asked mostly behavioural questions. We could ask questions at the end and wrote our availability down. They photocopied our passports/birth certificates/photo ID for proof of right to work. Got offered the job a week later. I think they remembered me because I made an effort to stand out. I made eye contact, spoke confidently, used relevant work examples, and asked questions at the end.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • In your opinion, what constitutes good customer service?
  • Describe a situation where you encountered difficult individuals and explain how you handled it.
  • Can you share an instance where you had a significant workload and how you managed your time effectively?
