First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Reject Shop.
Team Member
When you get to the store, you ask for the manager and they will take you to the back to do the interview. I had two interviews and they each had different questions. For example, they asked why I wanted to work there, to tell them about myself, and about my availability.
- What makes you want to work at this company?
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What is your availability like?
Christmas Casual
We had a group interview at Eastlands, Rosny. It wasn't a terrible one with silly activities or pointless questions. We were divided into three groups, given clipboards, and asked to prioritize tasks like helping customers, restocking, and cleaning spills. We introduced ourselves, filled out paperwork, watched a short slideshow, and completed the activity. Then we were ghosted.
- Can you tell us something about yourself?
Casual
I applied in the store because my mum saw the hiring sign and made me. I didn't really want the job and didn't think I would get it, so I applied anyway. Then the manager called me for an interview. The interview was super chill, took about 5 minutes to answer questions. The manager said he'd call back if I was successful. I got the job offer, but it took about a week because I had to sort out my tax and other paperwork. Then I was called in for my first shift for training with 3 other girls and the assistant manager.
- What would you do if you found a spill in one of the aisles?
Customer Service Representative
First, we'll review your resume and cover letter. Then, we'll give you a call to set up a group interview. In the group interview, you'll be split into smaller groups for some activities. After that, there's a one-on-one interview. We'll call you with a job offer a few days later.
- How can you make yourself stand out during the group discussion?
- What is your motivation for applying to this role?
- Could you share your university major?
