Behavioral Health Technician
Got a quick zoom call from a recruiter a few days after applying where we talked about the job and my background. She asked if I'd be alright eating meals with patients, and I said yes. After that, they set up an on-site interview with the hiring manager and the BHT manager. The hiring manager wasn't super friendly and seemed pretty checked out during the interview. About halfway through, the BHT manager mentioned that staff have to eat breakfast and lunch with the patients. I reminded them, like I told the recruiter, that I'm vegetarian and try to avoid eggs and dairy when I can. They couldn't really give me much info on vegetarian options in the cafeteria or how they handle dietary needs. The hiring manager didn't seem to care about my food preferences at all. It feels like this requirement and their lack of flexibility goes against what the company should be about. He even admitted the cafeteria food is nasty. I bet this rule is why they're always hiring. A few days after the on-site, I got an automated rejection email. I'm pretty sure it was because I mentioned my dietary preferences. Recruiters should be clearer on the screening call about what 'eating with patients' really means so they don't waste people's time. They showed me the menu, and these aren't quick meals; they're full meals with multiple sides that you're expected to eat regularly. I received an automated rejection email a few days after the on-site interview.
- What's your take on food and healthy eating?
- How do you set up healthy boundaries when working with patients?
- Would you have a problem eating breakfast and lunch with the patients?
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
First, there was an initial pre-screener with a recruiter to see if you’re a fit. Then, you meet with the medical director and executive director. Depending on the location, you may or may not have another person in the interview.
- Can you tell me about your experience prescribing medication for children and adolescents?
- Can you share an instance where you faced resistance regarding a situation?
- How did you manage that resistance, and what was the result?
Administrative Assistant
So I had my first interview over zoom with an HR recruiter. They asked basic STAR questions, and then some about my admin experience and if I had worked with eating disorders or mental health before. The second interview was with the department manager. They were really nice and it wasn't high pressure at all. It was more STAR questions and reviewing my resume. I was told the recruiter would let me know about the next steps, but then I got ghosted. No follow up, no response, and they re-posted the job. So, I wouldn't suggest applying because they don't even have the decency to send a rejection email.
- Can you share an instance where you had to establish boundaries with a patient?
Eating Disorder Technician
I had a really positive experience with my interview process. The recruiter who contacted me was fantastic -- thoughtful, professional, compassionate. I had a brief (30 min) phone screen-style interview with the recruiter. My second interview was a Zoom interview with the EDT manager. Overall I was very impressed by how smart, kind, and caring everyone was. Great experience all around. I ended up declining the offer because the job didn't work for me, schedule-wise, but my experience was very positive and it was clear the staff cares so much about both clients and each other.
- How would you handle a specific crisis situation?
- What is your philosophy concerning food?
