First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TATA ELXSI.
Graduate Engineer Trainee
First, there was an online test that covered aptitude and technical topics. Then, I had two interview rounds. The technical interview covered digital electronics, fundamental circuit ideas, and problem-solving abilities. Following that, the HR interview asked about my communication skills, what my strengths are, and if I'm okay with relocating. The whole thing was pretty straightforward and organized.
- Could you explain the difference between a latch and a flip-flop?
Technical Lead
The interview process at Tata Elxsi for a Technical Lead in Device Engineering typically starts with recruitment agencies submitting profiles. After initial screening, the TA Manager, Naveen, schedules a Level 1 interview. If that's cleared, Engineering Head Bosco Jacob conducts the Level 2 interview. Post-interviews, Naveen handles salary discussions. However, there's a risk of the profile being put 'on hold due to budget constraints' even after finalizing salary. This suggests a potential issue with budget clarity before recruitment begins, causing frustration and delays. It might also indicate an attempt to hire at lower salaries. Candidates should be cautious due to the uncertain outcome, as the process can be time-consuming and unstructured.

Technical Specialist
The interview process is pretty straightforward. Typically, you'll go through a few stages at Tata Elxsi, which might include some aptitude tests, then a technical interview, and finally a chat with HR. They're checking out your technical skills, how you tackle problems, and if you're a good fit for their culture, with a big emphasis on being innovative and working well with others.
- How do you approach tackling complex projects?
- What are your methods for keeping up with industry trends?
- Could you describe a difficult problem you successfully resolved?
Trainee Engineer
So the interview started with this test, you know, it had technical MCQs and then a coding challenge to see if my logic was good. After I passed that, I had a technical interview where they asked about core subjects, how I solve problems, my projects, and if I understood how things work in the real world for this job. They also checked if I could explain tech stuff well and if I knew the right tools and technologies. It was a pretty solid process to see if I knew the theory and could actually code.
- Questions about the fundamentals of Electrical and Electronics.
