First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TATA ELXSI.
Technical Manager
I interviewed for a Technical Manager/Senior role. I went through 1 technical round, 1 technical/managerial round, and 1 HR round. The HR initially emailed an offer of X LPA, which was quite low for my experience level. The next day, HR called back saying the Business Unit rejected the offer and asked if I'd accept (X-1) LPA. I declined this lower offer because X itself was too low for a senior role, and I felt the whole experience was unprofessional and a waste of time, especially not honoring their initial offer.
- Do you have experience with Technical C++ questions?
- Can you discuss Project Management?
- What are your thoughts on Estimation?
Delivery Manager
I initially interviewed for a Delivery Head role in Pune, expecting to manage over 2000 people in the automotive sector. Since I've managed teams of 150+, it wasn't a direct fit. About three weeks later, HR asked if I'd consider a Delivery Manager position, which I agreed to. After a lot of chasing, my HR round was scheduled (my technical rounds L1 and L2 happened way back 6 weeks before the HR round). The HR round went well, and they asked for my joining form, salary slips, and previous certificates. Then, there was silence for another 6 weeks. I kept following up with HR heads but got no response. Surprisingly, after 6 weeks, I received an email stating they decided not to proceed with my application, with no reason given. I asked HR about it, but still no response. It was a terrible experience; the HR team seems irresponsible and requires constant follow-up. They also lack the courtesy to explain rejection. I'd understand rejection after L1 or L2, proving incompetence. But after completing L1, L2, HR, submitting the joining form, and discussing salary, rejecting a candidate without justification is completely unprofessional.
- Can you describe a specific situation you encountered in Delivery Management?
- Could you discuss your knowledge of technical aspects like AUTOSAR and MBD Dev?
- What are your views on Agile practices?
Management Trainee
I recently interviewed for a management trainee position at a multinational corporation (MNC). The interviewer was really prepared and knew my background well, which made for a good conversation. They also seemed knowledgeable about the company and industry. The communication was clear and engaging; they listened well and asked good follow-up questions, making me feel comfortable. The questions were relevant and made me think, focusing on leadership potential, problem-solving, and adaptability. They asked about different scenarios to see my critical thinking and decision-making skills. The interviewer seemed genuinely interested in me and the company, which was infectious. They answered my questions clearly, giving me a better understanding of the organization. I could tell they had clear criteria for evaluating candidates, looking at both skills and cultural fit, which suggests they focus on long-term growth. The post-interview process was also clearly communicated, with a timeline provided. Overall, it was a very positive interview experience, and I'm impressed with their professionalism and approach to finding talent. I'm looking forward to hearing back.
