Program Director
The HR team was very nice and respectful with booking the interview date. I prepared a lot for the interview and expected some tough questions; however, when the actual interview happened, I did not get the tough questions. The interview seemed too easy. I am still not sure what to make of it. Before the interview, there was a take-home skills assessment. When I submitted that, it took them 1-2 weeks for them to ask me to pick an interview date.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your experience?
Project Manager
I spoke with an outside recruiter and went through 5 interviews between Jan and Mar. I also did a homework assignment. Everyone was really nice and the interviews themselves went really well. When I was all set to get an offer, I did get one, but it was for a lower offer and title with a salary I wasn't expecting based on our initial chat. I only got good feedback the whole time, so I never saw any red flags or issues coming. I do think this would be a good place to work, but definitely be careful and make sure to confirm that the role is still the same when you're about to close the deal.
- Can you share an instance of managing a difficult situation?
Strategist
The interview process felt a bit messy and disorganized, making me question the recruiter's organization. They asked for materials but didn't seem to review them before the interview. It was pretty informal, and SYP didn't seem very put-together, which lessened my enthusiasm. The office itself wasn't as impressive as the photos, and the general vibe felt a little flat. Maybe it was just overhyped, but the atmosphere didn't live up to the buzz.
- Can you walk me through your professional background?
- What's your personal career narrative?
- Share some specific examples from your past work.
Studio Designer
I had a few casual interviews where experienced designers reviewed my portfolio. They were assessing my potential for growth and excellence, rather than questioning my existing work. The interviews focused on whether I'd fit into the company's culture. The hiring process was paused due to relocation challenges. The studio team needs to be near the NY headquarters, but I was out of state and still settling into a recent move. No hard feelings, though. SYP seems like a great place to grow as a creative thinker, and I'd be happy to work with them in the future.
- Can you describe your design process and how it fuels your creativity?
