First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Swinerton.
Assembly Technician
I interviewed with the two site managers. They were excellent and knew their stuff. They interviewed me for the role I applied for and also took the time to explore other potential roles that they thought I would be a good fit for. I had a great first impression that they cared about their facility and wanted employees to succeed. It proved true.

Superintendent
The interview process was very long, taking over 5 months to complete. It involved one in-person interview and multiple phone interviews with various management personnel. The process felt unorganized, with different individuals providing conflicting information. When an offer was extended, the position/title was altered. They then claimed the adjusted position was never actually available, despite it being listed on their application portal and website. Because of this, I declined the offer. This was one of the most negative experiences of my professional career, and I would strongly advise others to avoid this company.
- Can you discuss your experience with previous projects?
Benefits Analyst
I applied online and went through 4 rounds of interviews. I spoke with the recruiter, the Head of HR, the Manager, and 5 team members. They asked me questions and I had to prove my skills and why I should be hired. After the last round, I was ghosted for 4 weeks until I emailed and only then got an answer. They didn't give me any feedback, just said they decided to move forward in a different direction. The job has been posted 3 times since then and has been open for over 3 months. I feel bad for anyone applying for this role.
- Can you explain the process for handling leaves in California?
Project Manager
Applied online and got a call from the recruiter. Had a recruiter phone screen, which was standard and nice. The recruiter asked for details about my past construction projects. I emailed the info and had to chase them to book the next interview. It was scheduled for a week later. The interviewing team seemed unprepared, didn't have a room, and used their personal office. They asked standard questions like 'tell me about yourself', 'interests', 'why here', and 'why so many jobs?'. I explained my job history, and one interviewer rudely mentioned her 12 years at Swinerton. My interviewers were unprepared and uninterested. Near the end, I was asked for professional references, which the recruiter said was a good sign. I got my references and sent them over. After a week of no contact, I followed up and was told they weren't moving forward with my application. The whole process was disorganized, unprofessional, and unpleasant. My advice is to prepare thoroughly to lead the interview, especially with unprepared interviewers.
