First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Swinerton.
Project Manager
First, a recruiter call to get a general idea of your background. Then, a manager interview focusing on the specifics of your work experience. Finally, a team interview to assess your social connection and past work experience, and to understand what you can contribute to the team and organization.
- What makes you interested in working for this company?
- Can you elaborate on your work experience?
- Tell us about your experience working with others and your past accomplishments.
Project Manager
Applied online and got a call from the recruiter. Had a recruiter phone screen, which was standard and nice. The recruiter asked for details about my past construction projects. I emailed the info and had to chase them to book the next interview. It was scheduled for a week later. The interviewing team seemed unprepared, didn't have a room, and used their personal office. They asked standard questions like 'tell me about yourself', 'interests', 'why here', and 'why so many jobs?'. I explained my job history, and one interviewer rudely mentioned her 12 years at Swinerton. My interviewers were unprepared and uninterested. Near the end, I was asked for professional references, which the recruiter said was a good sign. I got my references and sent them over. After a week of no contact, I followed up and was told they weren't moving forward with my application. The whole process was disorganized, unprofessional, and unpleasant. My advice is to prepare thoroughly to lead the interview, especially with unprepared interviewers.
- What value would you bring to the company if hired?
- What are your hobbies outside of work?
- Could you explain your frequent job changes?
Project Manager
The interview process involved two interactions: one virtual and one in-person. The people I met were nice, capable, experienced, and made me feel welcome. I felt good and hopeful throughout both meetings because they were easy to talk to, and I felt comfortable discussing what I was looking for in detail.
- Can you share an instance where you implemented improvements in your previous projects?
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
