& Process

We had an initial zoom call with the hiring committee, which had 5 members. After that, there was an in-person half-day interview. This part included additional staff members and people from other departments who would interact with the role. There was a long break between these interviews.

Applied online via Handshake, then had 2 interviews. First was a group interview with 5 people interviewing 3 of us. Then a one-on-one interview where it was just me and 2 interviewers. Lots of applicants so it was tough competition.

So, for a Java developer role, it's usually a few steps. First, there's a quick phone or video chat where they'll hit you with some easy Java and general coding stuff. After that, you'll dive into technical interviews, probably more than one, covering the main Java topics like OOP, data structures, algorithms, how to handle multiple threads, and common design patterns. They might throw in some coding tests or ask you to solve problems on a whiteboard too. There are also those behavioral interviews to see how you think through issues, work with others, and roll with changes. Finally, you might have a last chat or interview with the higher-ups.

I had a virtual interview that included a large panel, and then I had an in-person interview. It was interesting because one of the panelists didn't show up for either interview. The person leading the interviews was really open and honest about how things worked, which made the conversations with the other panelists go pretty well.
