Technical Behavioral

Applied online, HR contacted me about a month later to set up a phone screen with a VP. The VP started by saying it was a basic screen to get to know me better. The call was going smoothly until he became technical and started grilling me hard. I wasn't sure what he was looking for, and he seemed very frustrated. Even though I'm currently in the industry, that was intense. I ended the call, deciding it was a waste of time for both of us. I then emailed HR to withdraw my application.

Behavioral Technical

This was an internship interview for Suntrust Robinson Humphrey, not a full-time role. The first on-campus interview was very behavioral, not technical. They went through my resume and asked why I wanted to work there. They were really interested in culture and my past work experience. Everyone was really nice and did a good job, although the whole process takes a really, really long time.

Behavioral Technical Case

As a sophomore, I went to the Diversity Leadership Summit in Atlanta, Georgia after applying through my career center. The summit was a two day thing. The first day we toured the trading floor and learned about the company's culture and mission. We met with current analysts and managing directors and got to ask questions. The second day had 3 rounds of interviews with managing directors, each 30 minutes long. They mostly asked behavioral questions about past jobs, why SunTrust, and culture fit. It's important to know about current market issues too!

Technical Behavioral Presentation

The hiring process took about a year. It involved interviews with the manager and the entire product partner group. There were several lengthy sessions, followed by a dinner with additional stakeholders. The interviews covered specific areas like trades, loan syndications, derivatives, cash management, risk management, high-grade capital markets (mentioned twice), leveraged finance, and equity capital markets. Discussions about goals during the interviews seemed reasonable, but the actual goals set afterward weren't consistent with what was discussed.
