Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey.
Analyst
It was one round, an on-campus interview where I met with two people from the team: an analyst and a VP. The interview was super easy. They asked about two positions on my resume and some really basic technical questions for the job, just one or two.
- Why are you interested in SunTrust?
- What is your interest in portfolio management?
- What criteria would you use to assess if a company is a good candidate for lending?
Analyst
I was emailed first, then we set up a phone interview. It was about 30 minutes and mostly fit questions. After that, I was put in touch with an analyst in the group I would be working in, and we had a conversation via phone too.
- Describe a situation where you were unable to complete a task and explain how you handled it.
Analyst
STRH recruited me through my school's career center. Their team hosted numerous on-campus events, which made the interview process very straightforward with no unexpected elements. They utilize a well-developed model focused on Free Cash Flows (FCF's) and Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) ratios.
- What are your reasons for preferring to work with debt over equity?
