It was the normal process for a top law firm. I met with partners in the Tax Group, as that was my intended practice area. After that, I met with the hiring partner. The hiring partner's assistant then informed me that I would be extended an offer for a summer associate role in the Summer of 1972.

The interview process was really smooth, and everyone I met was super welcoming. They took the time to answer a lot of my questions about the company. It was great to meet a diverse group of people interviewing, which really helped me understand the firm better. I also learned more about the company's history and how it operates.

The recruiter contacted me for an interview but had to reschedule it due to some issues at the office. When we finally spoke, the recruiter was quite rude and didn't seem very interested. They mentioned a writing and editing test would be sent later that week, but then I was completely ghosted.

I applied through my campus career portal and the whole thing took a bit less than two months. First, I had a 15-30 minute phone call that really felt like a screening to make sure I was a good fit. The recruiter asked why I wanted to work there and confirmed I was okay with working overtime and weekends. They invited me to come to the NYC office for a second round interview at the end of the call. This second round was with different people at different levels, which was a much better experience than the phone call. They all asked me questions, some more conversational than others. I sent follow up emails to all four interviewers but only got one response. About two weeks later, I got a standard rejection email.
