We had about 12 candidates in the office for 4 hours. The interview was split into 3 individual interviews where they only asked 1 question each. Next, there was a written exercise and a group activity. I felt that only asking me 3 questions doesn't give the hiring team enough information about me. Additionally the feedback mentioned I was passive in the group activity which I am and am not aggressive as it is generally seen as rude and unprofessional. I would suggest that the hiring team ask more questions like in a traditional interview, not take 4 hours, and possibly do a personality test and put candidates into small groups. Just because someone is the most aggressive or loudest in an activity does not indicate that they can resolve problems and create solutions.

The interview process at Wagestream was efficient and well-organized. I liked that I could meet several team members at the same time, which saved time and gave me a better feel for the role and team dynamics. It was great to interact directly with the people I might be working with. They gave a clear, honest overview of the daily tasks and also mentioned that things are still changing as the company expands, which I thought was realistic and refreshing.

Behavioral Technical

The process started with a pleasant recruiter call, but things took a turn with other interviewers asking concerning questions about conflict resolution and handling angry customers. A major focus was the strict 3-day in-office requirement with no flexibility for personal needs. There were also concerning comments from leadership about firing people who didn't perform well in interviews. The company's revenue model, tied to 'time to go live,' seemed to put excessive pressure on delivery teams, which was evident during the interviews. The final interview with the VP was particularly unsettling and passive-aggressive, leading me to believe it's a chaotic environment with potential micromanagement. Ultimately, I decided against the role because the overall vibe was that people weren't happy, and if that's the impression during interviews, I'd rather not imagine the reality inside.

The interview was a bit of a letdown. The interviewer seemed to be just going through the motions, sticking to a script instead of really seeing if I was a good fit. They even had their camera off the whole time, which felt super impersonal and disengaged. It really gave me a bad vibe about the company culture and how things are run there. I tried my best to talk up my skills and what I've done, but it felt like they weren't really interested. When I followed up, it just confirmed my worries because I got a generic rejection email with no specific feedback. Honestly, this whole thing makes me hesitant about how they handle their hiring.
