I interviewed at Wagestream London. The interviewer was extremely rude and disrespectful. I knew in the first 5min that I will not be moving forward with the process at a company where HR is so disrespectful. Honestly, the role looked perfect for my profile but the HR rep was just left a very bad taste.

Coding Behavioral

This was a rare interview process that ended in rejection, but still left me with a more positive impression of the company. I was a bit rusty in the pair programming and did respectably, but not well enough for the high bar they set. Everyone I spoke with was very passionate and took the time to carefully consider me, while also moving very quickly. Both founders are engineers and even the individual doing the HR screen had an engineering background, so they obviously prioritise their engineering culture. I think you would grow a lot as an engineer there regardless of your experience level. Although the programming challenge is a real world problem, it is fundamentally an algorithm question so I would brush up on LeetCode first to give yourself the best chance. Of course, they sent me kind, detailed feedback in the end and encouraged me to apply again in the future, which I certainly will next time I am looking for a new role.

Technical Coding System Design Behavioral

Started with an initial tech assessment with the engineering director. Then, there was a 3-hour tech final round with 2 coding sessions and 1 system design. After that, I had a chat with the VP of Engineering, and finally, a chat with the Chief of Staff. The conversations were enjoyable and interviews were very kind. However, in the middle of the process, they downgraded the position being applied for without telling me until the very end. Many hours could have been saved by discontinuing at the earliest opportunity.
