Salesforce Administrator
I initially applied for an SDR role but they saw my Salesforce background and asked if I was interested in that instead, which I was. My salary expectation was no lower than 85k and they said that was fine. We went back and forth a lot to schedule interviews, and I was trying to relocate and wanted an offer in 2 weeks. I had a phone call with the recruiter where we skipped the SDR stuff and talked about my Salesforce admin experience. Then, a Zoom call with the VP of sales and development was scheduled a week later but got pushed back. When I finally spoke to the VP, it sounded too good to be true. We talked for an hour about the role, who I'd replace, and salary. He offered me 90k plus bonuses and commissions, which was 10k more than I asked for. He mentioned he needed to check with the current admin about their departure timeline, which fit my relocation schedule. After 10 days of silence, I had to reach out to HR, a former coworker reference, and the VP. The position was no longer available because the current admin decided to stay. This was a bummer, but the VP then offered me the original SDR position temporarily with a 'ramp up' into the admin role. This felt suspicious. I agreed to schedule a call with HR for the SDR role, which required going into the office and involved a 50k base with bad commission tiers for a 90-day program. I told them I needed a 70k base and an offer letter by the end of the week before relocating. They sent over the pay scale and to schedule an in-office interview. I found out later they did something similar to a former colleague. Avoid this place.
- Can you commit to coming into the office daily and making 250 outbound calls?
- Can you come into the office and make 250 dials a day?
Sales Development Representative
The recruiter, Monica, is great at preparing you and keeping you updated. After talking to her, there might be up to 3 interviews. The first one is a Zoom call with basic get-to-know-you questions. Then, there's an in-person interview where you role-play their script with a manager. Practicing a few times helps, but it can vary by manager. If they're really interested, you might skip the third interview, which is with the director and is more of a vibe check.
- Tell me about yourself and your background.
- What's your understanding of what our company does?
- Can you practice delivering their sales script?
Business Development Specialist
First, we make you take an assessment and if you pass that, you'll then interview with a Manager and the VP. It's not your typical interview. We're asking you about 'You,' your aspirations, and where you see yourself going. We're looking for folks with ambitions who are driven to improve themselves and their lives and are ready to put in the effort to get there. Also, our team is full of positive, friendly, and ethical people. It's really about who you are as a person and your personal goals, rather than strictly business.
- What motivates you? What are your aspirations?
- What goals do you have?
- How much money do you aim to earn?
Sales
I had a phone screen with the recruiter, then I had to do an online assessment before the onsite. At the onsite, I met two sales managers and someone who reviewed my online assessment. The interview was pretty standard, mostly going over my background, which was much more detailed than the interviewers'. My assessment results put me in the top 1% of candidates. The company seemed to be mostly millennials and has way more reviews than employees. Something just felt off at the office, like a cult I couldn't join.
- Can you discuss your sales background?
- What are some of your key sales achievements?
